The Overview
Creating a Collaborative Space for Socially Conscious Organizations
For more than a decade, the annual Typeforce event brings together a variety of Chicago-based organizations in service of creating a more socially conscious and engaged community through graphic art and design. The event consists of many players in the print space, including Firebelly Design, who has played a role in promoting past events. The goal of Typeforce? To help build connections and relationships through the power of typography and print design to unify and foster change.

The Details
A Blank Canvas for New Ideas
The Typeforce team wanted to create a physical piece for attendees to take away from this year’s Typeforce 13, something that commemorated the event and inspired and encouraged attendees to document their own ideas and creativity. A notebook proved to be the perfect blend of keepsake and blank canvas for designers, graphic artists and community organization leaders to communicate and collaborate.

The Results
A Notebook to Notice
The cover of the 8.5 x 11 spiralbound notebook sparks inspiration almost immediately via a bold use of color, angles and white space — this dynamic design helps make the notebook an instant conversation starter, and the blank interior pages provide ample real estate for attendees to document their Typeforce experience. The use of Accent® Opaque 80 lb. Text White Smooth helps give the inside pages a little heft, making it the perfect notebook to house ideas and observations that truly matter, that can help connect and transform a community even as large and diverse as Chicago.
